



Curator Candace Huey & Guest Curators Taraneh Hemami and Theodore Lau
Candace Huey is an interdisciplinary curator and art historian with over fifteen years of experience conceptualizing and implementing arts programming around the globe. She founded re.riddle, a contemporary art gallery that showcases the work of international artists. Candace has worked for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Bonham's auction house, Alameda County Arts Commission, and various art galleries in the Bay Area. Candace holds degrees in Art History from The Courtauld in London and U.C. Berkeley, and has presented her academic research on seventeenth-century Dutch Art throughout the United States and the Netherlands. Most recently, she was full-time faculty teaching graduate and undergraduate Art History courses at a private university. Candace is co-chair of SECA Council at SFMOMA, Northern California Chapter Leadership Committee of ArtTable, board member of SFADA, and active supporter of Headlands Center for the Arts and Berkeley Art Museum Pacific Film Archive.

Taraneh Hemami works with materials of history, organizing archives of images, data and information, weaving complementary and contradictory narratives that are manifested in objects, installations and public works as well as experimental collective, collaborative and curatorial projects. Her works examine the careful crafting of images as propagated for power and political gain, the manipulations of truth and historical facts, and the fictionalized realities that have infiltrated our everyday lives. Hemami has received awards from the Creative Capital, Creative Work Fund, Center for Cultural Innovation, California Council for the Humanities, San Francisco Arts Commission, Kala Art Institute, Fleishhacker Foundation, and Zellerbach Foundation. Her works have been exhibited widely including at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Montalvo Arts Center, Southern Exposure, Victoria and Albert Museum, Pergamon Museum, Boghossian Foundation, and at the Sharjah International Biennial. She is the founder of Makaan Residency and teaches at the California College of the Arts (CCA) in San Francisco.

Theodore Lau is a curator, writer, and artist from San Jose, California. They are Galleries Program Associate at the San Francisco Arts Commission, and have held positions at Tina Kim Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, CCA Wattis Institute for Contemporary Art, KADIST San Francisco, and the Institute of Contemporary Art, San Jose. Theo has worked on projects with artists including Pacita Abad, Raven Chacon, Jeffrey Gibson, Xandra Ibarra, Mire Lee, Minouk Lim, Astria Suparak, Carlos Villa, and Cecilia Vicuña, and produced presentations for the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia and the 58th Carnegie International. They are currently researching antagonism as critical practice, and are working on an oral history with early 2000's ABG's. Theo graduated with honors from Brown University.
