Letter from Stephen Gong

A Message from the Co-ED of CMAC

For the past three years, Edge on the Square, the first project of the Chinatown Media and Arts Collaborative, has demonstrated that a vibrant contemporary arts and cultural hub in the heart of the neighborhood can become a destination for residents and visitors near and far–a destination. Our contemporary arts festivals, exhibitions, and have attracted tens of thousands of visitors to the neighborhood. Our artist workshops, film screenings, book readings, critical panel talks, and creative artmaking have fostered curiosity and joy.

We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Executive Director Joanne Lee and the entire Edge team: Candace Huey, Linda Lui, Peggy Lee, Elaine Fong, Erika Pallasigue, Robyn Mallery, Waymon Ng, Jialin Lu, Cheyanne Chow, Maya Crolene, Linda Huang, and Laura Uyeki.

Beginning on April 1, Edge will be open by appointment and for special events.

CMAC Board will focus our efforts on strategic planning and capital campaign fundraising in 2026 to be ready for an exciting expansion of our capacity to deliver on our mission, to use the power of arts and culture to strengthen the community and support greater economic sustainability.

Stay tuned to this space for exciting updates, and feel free to reach out to us at hello@edgeonthesquare.org.
