​Calling all future filmmakers and storytellers of all ages! Filipino American artist and puppeteer Ramon Abad leads a ‘superhero’ puppet making workshop where you can craft your own superhero hand puppet and shoot a short video with your phone capturing your puppet’s superheroic adventures.​​

About Ramon Abad

Ramon Abad is a Filipino American puppeteer and artist based in San Francisco. Since the mid-90s he has directed and performed puppet plays throughout the US. He was a shadow puppeteer with Larry Reed’s ShadowLight Productions and was in a show that toured in the Jim Henson International Puppetry Festival. As a company member of the Filipino American sketch comedy troupe tongue in A mood, Ramon wrote, directed and performed with puppets at Bindlestiff Studio.  He has directed live theater and on-line shows and has led residencies and workshops that engage all ages in exploring modern puppetry. Ramon has received several grants from the San Francisco Arts Commission to direct plays and to create an art installation at the Minnesota Street Project. In 2023, he was awarded an Established Artist Fellow from the CA Arts Council and Youth Speaks for his years of work in the community.

Ramon Abad 是菲律賓裔美國人，身兼戲偶師和藝術家，以三藩市為基地。他自 1990 年代中期開始走遍美國，執導並演出多齣偶戲。他曾為 Larry Reed 的 ShadowLight Productions 擔任皮影戲偶師並參加巡迴演出，該劇目更在 Jim Henson 國際戲偶節亮相。作為菲裔美國人喜劇小品藝團 tongue in A mood 的團員，Ramon曾撰寫、執導及參與Bindlestiff Studio 的戲偶演出。他亦曾執導多齣現場直播及網上播出的劇場作品，並且為多個藝術家駐場計劃和工作坊擔任導師，與不同年紀人士探索現代戲偶藝術。Ramon 多次獲得三藩市藝術委員會的獎助金，出任劇場作品導演，亦在 Minnesota Street Project 創作藝術裝置。2023 年，Ramon 入選加州藝術委員會及 Youth Speaks 的傑出藝術家，以表揚他多年來對社區的貢獻。
