To kick-off a bright new year, Edge on the Square (Edge) presents Prismatic Shift, a site-specific lantern installation. This outdoor art installation pays homage to the iconic red lanterns of San Francisco Chinatown, joining them to illuminate Grant Avenue and adorn the neighborhood’s dynamic architecture. It honors the traditional red lanterns’ rich cultural history through a contemporary lens that both renews and refreshes the enchantment of Chinatown.
Edge is thrilled to be adding ‘fuel’ to the unflickering light of Chinatown. “By harnessing the transformative power of contemporary art, the opportunities to effect change and make a positive impact are creatively endless,” says Joanne Lee, Executive Director.
Join us for the unveiling event at 5:30, followed by musical performances and art activities that run until 8:00 pm!
