Beast Nest, ​​​​Brute Force 《蠻力》

Beast Nest will be presenting Brute Force, a sonic exploration of the confusion of hope in a moment of chronic systemic gaslighting. From our governmental systems to our interpersonal networks, from the denial of the Palestinian genocide to the weaponization of local policies around our unhoused neighbors, our attempts at collective liberation are stymied by the untethering of our realities and our experiences. Trust has become an ever-scarce luxury misaligned with our actions and our values. We, alternatively, look to hope as a false refuge from our day-to-day struggle to survive.​​

In the I Ching, and many other practices, fire shifts kinetic or electrical energy into physical energy, much like speakers on a sound system. Brute force is the response to the need for willpower, presence, and action to create change. Brute force is the decision to do, to push, to allow, to change.

Brute Force offers an opportunity to give ourselves to the power of our will, creativity, and action. We ask our audience to indulge in their own creative power to rediscover love, trust, and liberation.
